Guillaume Lemay-Thivierge publicly endorses Éric Duhaime on the eve of the vote
Just hours before the October 5 vote, the actor and skydiver is throwing his support behind the Conservative Party of Quebec.

Quebec's election campaign has drawn a wave of endorsements from well-known personalities. Olivier Primeau has backed the CAQ, Christian Bégin Québec solidaire and Paul Piché the Parti Québécois, while Éric Duhaime and the Conservative Party of Quebec have won the support of several figures, including former justice minister Marc Bellemare, singer Mario Pelchat and former Lévis mayor Gilles Lehouillier. Now it's Guillaume Lemay-Thivierge's turn: according to reliable sources, the actor is publicly backing the Conservative leader and his party, giving Duhaime another recognizable face in the final stretch of the campaign.
The endorsement comes as no surprise to those who have followed the relationship between the two men. They first met on the set of Radio-Canada's *Tout le monde en parle* in April 2021, at the height of the pandemic. During that now-memorable episode, the actor stepped into a tense exchange between host Guy A. Lepage and Éric Duhaime over vaccination and the vaccine passport, lamenting the lack of debate in Quebec. The Conservative leader later thanked him publicly on social media.
The friendship continued away from the studios. In the summer of 2022, Éric Duhaime visited the École de parachutisme Voltige, a skydiving school co-owned by Guillaume Lemay-Thivierge in Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, near Joliette, to make a tandem jump. Photos of the leader suspended in mid-air, shared on his social media, drew plenty of reaction, with Duhaime saying the actor had helped him conquer his fear.
This latest endorsement adds to those the Conservative Party of Quebec has already gathered during a campaign in which celebrities haven't hesitated to stick their necks out. It remains to be seen what effect these endorsements will have at the ballot box.
