Free Palestine Party forces historic reform as Legislative Council passes bill abolishing Victoria’s Group Voting Ticket system for good
Victoria’s Legislative Council has passed the The Electoral Amendment (Miscellaneous Matters) Bill 2026 abolishing Group Voting Tickets. The Lower House had already waved it through unopposed. The crossbench MPs who built their careers on the preference-harvesting racket fought to the end and lost.
The Free Palestine Party forced this outcome. By registering and threatening to turn the very system against those who designed it, we left Labor with no choice. Faced with the prospect of their own invention being used against them at the November election, they moved to kill it.
It is done.
One Nation will now receive every vote and preference it actually earns from Victorian voters. No more backroom deals. No more redirected preferences. No more stolen votes funnelled through party machines. The democratic will of the people stands.
This was always the ultimate goal. We never expected them to fold so completely. We prepared to play their game and run the preferences of the useful fools straight through the system they created. We didn’t have to. They dismantled it themselves rather than risk us using it. This is a historic win for every Victorian who wants their vote to mean what it says.
