Anna Slatz UPDATE: NYC lawyer (and 9/11 hero) working to free our jailed reporter

Our reporter Anna Slatz was arrested last night during the riots in New York City, despite a curfew exemption for journalists covering the event.

So, we hired five lawyers to get her out as quickly as possible.

Michael Weinstock is a criminal lawyer, former 9/11 firefighter and a Democrat candidate for Congress, and he joins me to talk about why he was motivated to help Anna today.

In this interview, filmed this afternoon right before her arraignment, Michael walks us through the steps of what will happen with Anna next:

“It must be especially anxiety-producing: Not only is there a pandemic, not only are there the troubles that have been all over the news, but she's not a New Yorker, and it must be especially frightening and my heart breaks for her. And truth be told, I'm also saddened because I love New York City so much... and we're not putting our best foot forward.”
