The Toronto police stopped our billboard truck again — the third time in six weeks. This time, the “hate crime” they’re investigating is us simply pointing out how many pro-Hamas criminals have been arrested in Canada.

I’m not kidding. Our truck was at Bathurst and Sheppard in the heart of Toronto’s Jewish community, playing a sponsored ad from the Canadian Antisemitism Education Foundation.

The ad showed one thing: the bail conditions of a variety of pro-Hamas radical extremists charged after the mob marches through that very neighbourhood.

The truck simply shows what’s on the public records — a massive antisemitic crime wave. I’m not talking about mean words; I’m talking about actual crimes, including supporting terrorism.

The words on the truck were actually from the police themselves. A Jewish charity paid to publish them. And the Toronto police response was to stop our truck and investigate us?

For months, masked anti-Israel mobs have marched through that same Jewish neighbourhood — screaming at shoppers, blocking the streets. The police didn’t stop them. The police escorted them.

So: a masked mob gets a police escort, but putting a judge’s own words on a screen get a “hate crime” investigation.

It’s part of a pattern.

In July, police pulled over our truck for playing a sponsored ad defending women’s sports. Two weeks ago, outside the WNBA game downtown, police swarmed our truck, ordered the ad shut off, and handed our driver Mark two tickets totalling $1,230 — for playing a video featuring Serena Williams and Martina Navratilova.

Three stops in six weeks. They’re not enforcing the law. They’re hunting the truck — because the cops themselves hate our message. Here’s the thing: it would be cheaper to just pay the tickets and park the truck in a garage. That’s what they’re counting on.

But if we do that, then the precedent is set — the police get to decide what opinions can appear on a screen in Toronto. Not a judge. Not the law. Whichever officer gets the complaint.

If they can ban a court order from a billboard, what can’t they ban?

So, we’re fighting back. We’ve retained Leora Shemesh, one of Toronto’s toughest criminal lawyers, to fight the tickets in court and to defend the truck’s right to keep driving. 

It’s pretty obvious to me that they’re going to keep harassing our driver. I think that’s part of their plan: to get him to quit out of fear. I mean, how would you feel if every time you went for the drive, police pulled you over and threatened you?

We need to set the free-speech precedent, not just for us, but for every Canadian who still thinks he’s allowed to disagree in public. I’m told the legal fight will cost $10,000. I’ll keep you posted every step of the way.

I promised our truck driver, Mark, that I would protect him at all costs. I want to be as loyal to him as he is to us.
