EZRA LEVANT | Historian David Starkey warns Britain is fracturing after forgetting that nationhood takes generations
About this Episode
Historian Dr. David Starkey joins Ezra to argue that Britain's crisis is a crisis of forgetting, and that a nation cut off from its own inheritance loses the ability to tell the citizen from the stranger. Drawing on Edmund Burke and on English history from the Norman Conquest to the Huguenots, Starkey makes the case that nationhood is built over generations and cannot be granted by a passport. He also warns that open frontiers, uneven justice and a hyper-liberal elite are pushing Britain toward division, with rival vigilante groups forming in what he calls the Northern Ireland-ization of the country.
