Fauci’s top adviser pleads guilty to covering up COVID origins records
Dr. David Morens just pleaded guilty to hiding COVID records. So what exactly were they trying to keep from the public?
A former senior adviser to “the Science” himself, Dr. Anthony Fauci, just admitted in court to conspiring to conceal federal records on the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. David Morens, 78, pleaded guilty Tuesday to plotting to defraud the U.S. government, a felony that carries up to five years in prison. He is scheduled for sentencing on Nov. 12 before U.S. District Judge Paula Xinis in Greenbelt, Maryland.
“By pleading guilty today, Dr. Morens has taken responsibility for what he did, and he will continue to do so,” his defence attorney said afterward.
According to the Justice Department, Morens deliberately used his private email account while still employed at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases to dodge public records laws. He is accused of concealing or destroying communications about COVID-19 research grants — including an effort to revive a controversial coronavirus grant that has long been at the centre of the lab-leak debate.
This wasn’t some minor paperwork mix-up. It followed a House Republican investigation that zeroed in on Morens’ emails and accused him of intentionally hiding records from the American people. Under oath in congressional testimony, Morens denied trying to evade federal transparency laws. Now he’s pleaded guilty to doing exactly that.

The same Fauci who repeatedly invoked the Fifth Amendment against self-incrimination during a July congressional hearing on his handling of the pandemic. The same Fauci who, just last Friday, refused a voluntary appearance before a second Senate panel after Republicans voted to hold him in contempt of Congress.

Fauci himself faces no charges in the Morens case, which is convenient for him given that the self-proclaimed King of Science can now take the Fifth and dodge subpoenas. Meanwhile, his own longtime senior adviser is admitting in open court to a conspiracy to hide records related to a pandemic that triggered unprecedented efforts to suppress rights and freedoms on an unprecedented scale.

Morens wasn’t just a junior staffer. He was a close Fauci confidant at NIAID, the very agency that funneled money into risky coronavirus research. The records in question involved discussions of grants that many have long said would confirm that the virus emerged from a lab in Wuhan, which is research that Fauci’s agency helped fund through intermediaries.
From private emails to deleted or concealed records, there were ongoing efforts to revive controversial funding, all while the official narrative insisted on a natural origin and dismissed the lab-leak hypothesis as a conspiracy theory.
Now the public can see that there was indeed a conspiracy at play, and it’s no longer just a theory.
