Ford calls deporting foreign workers 'the craziest thing I have ever heard', praises mass immigration
At a Calgary energy summit with Danielle Smith, Ontario's premier warned that Canada's first population decline in a generation is "so dangerous," and pushed to let temporary residents stay after their permits expire.

Doug Ford went to Calgary to talk about pipelines and praise Canada's energy infrastructure building efforts under Mark Carney's Liberal rule, alongside Alberta Premier Danielle Smith.
Instead, Ford made a plea for more immigration and attacked the idea of enforcing Canada's temporary permit rules.
The Ontario and Alberta premiers shared the stage on Sept. 28 at the 2026 Enserva Speaker Series at the TELUS Convention Centre. According to Enserva's press release, the event focused on energy security, infrastructure and Canada's economic competitiveness.
Ford used part of his time to argue that the country has a people shortage.
"Took office eight and a half years ago. We had 14 million people. We're at 16.3 million," Ford said of Ontario's rising population as a result of Liberal mass immigration policies.

He then described what he sees as the problem. Foreign workers arrive, companies train them, and two years later they get a deportation letter.
"After they've established their families and kids are going to school there, either renting or even in some cases, buying a home, and they get a letter in the mail saying, you got to go back where you came from," Ford said. "That is the craziest thing I have ever heard. We need people. We need people to stay here in the companies."
Ford said the premiers and the prime minister had discussed the issue and were "in 100% agreement." He said labour was the "number one issue" at a roundtable earlier that day, alongside supply chains.
He then pointed to a population drop of "about 50,000 people," which he said was the first decline ever in a generation.
"That is so dangerous for our country. I can't begin to tell you," Ford said. "The worst thing you could do to your economy."
He closed by praising newcomers who "want to work their backs off, get their kids in school," obey the laws and give back. "I'll take hard working people all day long here," he said.
Ford's argument skips over one fact. The letters he described are not deportations of people who were promised a future in Canada.
They are notices that temporary permits are ending, which is what "temporary" means. Every worker on those permits, and every employer that hired them, knew the terms going in.
As Rebel News has reported, the bulk of Canada's population boom did not come from the Temporary Foreign Worker Program. It came from the International Mobility Program and from study permits, a system riddled with diploma mills, fake job offers and abused LMIAs.
Ontario's colleges were at the centre of the student-visa surge. Meanwhile, Canadians have paid for it in rent, wages, emergency-room waits and crowded classrooms.

Someone should ask premier Ford about Ontario’s unemployed youth rate, and why its so high. -
