Hajdu cited “over 40%” Air Canada figure during strike — her department won’t say where it came from

Hajdu's department couldn't identify a study showing that Air Canada moved "over 40%" of critical shipments like organ tissue and pharmaceuticals.

Jobs Minister Patty Hajdu warned during the 2025 Air Canada flight attendants’ dispute that the airline moved “over 40%” of critical shipments such as pharmaceuticals and organ tissue. Asked to show how that figure was calculated, her department did not identify a study, dataset or organization that produced it.

Conservative MP Garnett Genuis put the question to the government in Q-1407. He asked for the data behind Hajdu’s statement, the period it covered, which medical goods were counted and who supplied or verified the number. He also requested figures on organ and tissue shipments by air, including delays and shipments made unusable by transportation problems.

In its response, Employment and Social Development Canada said Hajdu receives a continuous flow of information and listed meetings with Air Canada and the flight attendants’ union on July 3, July 25, August 12 and August 15, 2025. It did not connect any of those meetings to a calculation of the 40% figure. The department also said it does not collect the requested data on organ and tissue shipments by air.

Hajdu made the claim in an August 16 statement as she moved to send the labour dispute to binding arbitration.

Remigration Now!

11,611 signatures
Goal: 15,000 signatures

Canada’s immigration system must put Canadian citizens, Canadian workers and Canadian values first. Temporary foreign workers and international students should be required to leave when their permits expire, citizenship should not be granted to those who support terrorism or reject Canada’s laws and values, and the federal government must reverse the damaging consequences of unchecked mass migration. We call on Canada’s leaders to restore order, enforce the rules, and to protect Canadian jobs and communities.

EW: I’ve learned not to trust anything she says ever since she was Minister of Health during the Trudeau Plague. Talk about making up facts…..

Wait! What? A Liberal Cabinet Minister is just making up facts and figures out of “whole cloth” (as my beloved old professor, the late esteemed Dr. Franklin used to say). Say it ain’t so! Such mendacious behaviour shakes one’s faith of government!
