A man convicted in the brutal swarming death of a Calgary teenager more than a decade ago is now wanted after allegedly repeatedly failing to appear in a Saskatchewan court on new weapons charges.

Joch Pouk, 33, was convicted of manslaughter for his role in the 2013 beating and stabbing death of an 18-year-old outside a Calgary nightclub. Three other men were tried alongside Pouk, with Franz Cabrera and another co-accused convicted of second-degree murder, while another was acquitted.

Pouk is now facing fresh legal trouble in Saskatoon.

According to court documents reported by 620 CKRM, Saskatoon police charged Pouk in December 2025 with possessing a machete and an expandable baton for a purpose dangerous to the public peace. 

A bench warrant was issued after Pouk allegedly failed to appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court on three separate occasions: January 17, April 14 and July 14. 

It isn't Pouk's first run-in with police since his manslaughter conviction.

In September 2023, La Ronge RCMP arrested Pouk during a traffic stop while he was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for violating his parole. Police seized approximately 194 grams of cocaine, drug paraphernalia and a large amount of cash. Pouk was subsequently charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime and was sentenced on those offences in late 2024. 

Parole documents cited by CKRM said Pouk came to Canada with his family at age seven after being born in a refugee camp. The documents reportedly identified violence as an ongoing concern, stating that Pouk had learned to use violence to resolve conflict and that it provided him status among his peers.
