More than 10 anti-Israel demonstrators arrested during protest in downtown Toronto
Several pro-Hamas protesters resisted arrest and appeared to assault officers as police moved in to clear the intersection at Spadina Avenue and Front Street on Saturday.
On Monday's live stream, David Menzies and Sheila Gunn Reid discussed police finally taking action to arrest pro-Hamas protesters wreaking havoc on the streets of Toronto.
A press release issued by Toronto police shows that 11 people were arrested at the anti-Israel demonstration at Front Street and Spadina Avenue on Saturday afternoon. The protesters were charged with various offences including assaulting a peace officer, obstructing a peace officer, and possession of a prohibited weapon.
The message from Toronto police notes that during the chaotic anti-Israel demonstration, "some participants became aggressive and assaulted officers while resisting police efforts to restore order."

Sheila applauded the arrests but discussed why the justice system in Canada under the Liberal government has a long way to go.
"That's a violent protest, lots of assaulting a peace officer, obstructing a peace officer, carrying a concealed weapon ... so this seems far more violent than anything the convoy did, and yet these guys are probably out on bail that afternoon and they will never see the inside of a jail cell," she said.
David condemned the protesters for using up massive amounts of police resources and blocking traffic at one of Toronto's prominent downtown intersections.
"I think I speak for all of Toronto when I say, get the hell off the street. You know Front and Spadina, that's around the Skydome area, and when there's a baseball game, and there was that day, traffic is already gridlocked enough Sheila," he said.
Toronto police's press release noted that protesters refused to comply with officers' orders to clear the intersection and were therefore participating in an unlawful assembly.
