Ottawa revoked 71 airport security clearances, but won’t say how many involved crime

The response comes after Conservative MP Dan Albas asked Transport Canada how many airport employees the government knew to be involved in illegal activity and how many had their clearances revoked.

Transport Canada has revoked 71 transportation security clearances since August 2021, but it has not said how many of those decisions involved airport employees accused of crimes or illegal activity.

The figure came in a written response to Conservative MP Dan Albas, who asked how many airport employees the government knew to be involved in illegal activity and how many had their clearances revoked as a result.

Transport Canada gave the total number of revocations, but said determining the adverse information behind individual decisions would require a manual review of each record. It also declined to provide figures from before August 2021, saying the work could not be completed in the time allotted and might produce an incomplete or misleading answer.

Albas also asked when the government became aware of organized crime operating at Canadian airports and what specific measures it had taken in response. Transport Canada did not give a date. It pointed instead to its employee background checks, intelligence sharing and screening of airport workers at more than 30 airports.

The department said it can refuse, suspend or revoke a clearance when it receives credible information that a person poses a transportation security risk.

Remigration Now!

Goal: 15,000 signatures

Canada’s immigration system must put Canadian citizens, Canadian workers and Canadian values first. Temporary foreign workers and international students should be required to leave when their permits expire, citizenship should not be granted to those who support terrorism or reject Canada’s laws and values, and the federal government must reverse the damaging consequences of unchecked mass migration. We call on Canada’s leaders to restore order, enforce the rules, and to protect Canadian jobs and communities.

Remember when Trudeau said in 2015 that his would be the most transparent? It’s still opaque with Carney in charge. They only grudgingly give incomplete information because they must.
