Struggling gym owner FINED nearly $2,000 for reopening to save his business

Let’s get physical!

Meet Zach Boissinot, the owner of A Foot Above Fitness in Orleans, Ontario.

Last month, Boissinot — like so many other entrepreneurs — found that he was being pushed to the brink of bankruptcy thanks to the Ottawa area being mired in a “modified Stage 2“ lockdown, a mandate that forced all gyms (as well as other businesses) to close back down just as they were trying to open up.

Boissinot was justifiably upset that his ability to make a living was being severely hindered. And as a fitness guru himself, Boissinot says he believes the physical and mental health benefits of having gyms open for business far outweigh the risk of spreading the Wuhan virus.

So, like many other patriotic Canadians, Boissinot took a rebellious stand and opened the doors to his gym, a move most of his clients applauded.

Alas, Ottawa bylaw officers did not appreciate this act of self-preservation and social disobedience... and Boissinot was slapped with more than $1,800 in fines. This included $880 for operating a non-essential business; $490 for failing to post required signage at every public entrance; and an additional $490 for failing to have hand sanitizer at all entrances. Now, that’s harsh!

We thought this was an egregious overreaction by the city. So, we went to Orleans to tell Boissinot’s story AND to offer this entrepreneur a helping hand.

And so it is that Mr. Boissinot is the first Canadian business owner to let us tell his story through new portal, iWillOpen.com, where Rebel News will report on stories of business owners like Zach who have decided that enough is enough!
