It's the afternoon of Sunday, April 7th and I just received a phone call from our cameraman: David Menzies has been arrested by Toronto Police, right outside City Hall.
And it’s for the same reason David was arrested last time — he was asking journalistic questions of the pro-Hamas hate marchers.
Those foreign-funded extremists were actually attempting to “crash” a pro-Israel vigil marking the terrible six-month anniversary of the Hamas attack on Southern Israel, and the holding of hostages ever since.
Imagine how depraved the pro-Hamas counter-protesters must be. It would be like crashing a funeral.
David went over to ask them some questions — it’s a matter of public interest and they were in a public place. But Toronto Police swooped in to arrest him. The police were actually acting as the bodyguards of the Hamas bigots.
This is the second time David has been arrested for covering pro-Hamas hate marches in Toronto, after a previous incident on March 15. If you haven’t seen the video of his arrest, you really should watch it:
Now, I'm on my way downtown to head to the police station and start working towards David's release. I’ve already contacted our lawyer, Leora Shemesh, who knows all about police excesses. We will obviously not rest until David is free. But that will not be the end of it. It will only be the end of the beginning.
Because once he’s free, we are going to file the mother of all lawsuits against this two-tier policing that allows Hamas hate marchers to terrorize the city with impunity, but cracks down on peaceful journalists like David.
Rebel News will defend David vigorously. Here’s our plan:
- We will defend David Menzies until our last breath.
- We will go on the offensive, and take the lawsuit to the police — for false arrest, negligent investigation, false imprisonment and assault.
- And more importantly, we will sue under the Charter of Rights. The police violated David’s freedom of the press, freedom of religion and freedom of movement. They obviously have been instructed to do so by their senior commanders. That’s illegal. They need to be rebuked by a judge and stopped from doing it ever again — to David, or to anyone else.
This is Canada, not Gaza.
We follow Canadian law, not sharia law. Hamas thugs can’t rule our streets.
I know that not a lot of people stand up to bullies anymore. But we sure do.
If you agree that the way David has been treated by the police is outrageous and unacceptable, please sign our petition to demand fair treatment.
And, if you’re able to help with our three-part legal plan to fight back, please do so by chipping in a donation right here on this page — we’ll be fighting against the entire pro-Hamas establishment, including the police, City Hall and of course the Hamas thugs themselves.
Please help me fight for David, by covering our growing legal bills. I’m sorry to ask for your help again, but we need it again. Because Toronto’s police are acting as pro-Hamas thugs again. And they need to be told that’s wrong, again.
