Stand With David Menzies

Rebel News journalist David Menzies was served with a summons and a huge fine for reporting on an anti-lockdown protest in Peterborough, Ontario. So much for freedom of the press — and sane policing!

In late April of 2021, Rebel News journalist David Menzies was on the scene reporting on a large anti-lockdown protest in Peterborough, Ontario which featured People’s Party of Canada leader Maxime Bernier and Ontario independent MPP Randy Hillier.

Peterborough Police Service were there too, handing out large fines — but only to very carefully chosen people amongst the 600 at the event.

We had assumed that all the tickets that were given out had already been issued, until June arrived, and Menzies was met at his door by a Peterborough cop delivering a summons for David, which didn't actually say what David had been charged with!

When our lawyers received the police file, we saw it was full of fabrications — alleging that David was an organizer of the protest, not a protester; that he was violent, which he wasn’t; and that his gravest sin was that he was caught laughing

Of course, we will fight these absurd and abusive charges in court. You can help fund David's legal defence and follow the entire saga on this page, including viewing the ridiculous summons and discovery documents.
