Venezuelans welcome U.S. access to oil in exchange for freedom from tyranny: Alexa Lavoie

Fresh off hearing from Venezuelan exiles in Florida, Alexa Lavoie joins The Ezra Levant Show to discuss how the views she heard differ from the anti-Trump talking points being spread by mainstream media outlets.

The new year started off with a stunning U.S. raid on Venezuela following a months-long standoff with the South American nation, culminating in the daring overnight operation to snatch Nicolas Maduro, widely regarded as the illegitimate leader of the country.

On Tuesday's episode of The Ezra Levant Show, Ezra explained how “a moment will come when Venezuela will be free, and we will send Rebel reporters to Caracas to talk to the people.”

But while we wait for that freedom to arrive, what Rebel News did do was immediately send a team to south Florida, where the largest share of Venezuelan exiles lives.

Reporter Alexa Lavoie and videographer Efrain Monsanto heard from locals in the Miami area who were ecstatic at the U.S. finally taking action against Maduro's Communist government.

Alexa joined The Ezra Levant Show to reflect on the comments she heard from Venezuelan expats.

“We see the leftists saying, 'this is a selfish act, (Trump) just wanted to have the oil,'” Alexa said. “But everybody on the ground, what they said was, we never touch our oil anyway. It was either China or Russia or other foreign countries who wanted our oil, and we never touched any penny from that.”

Alexa said the Venezuelans she talked to were welcome to exchange access to oil production for freedom restored to their home country.

Help Fund Our Reporting on the Liberation of Venezuela

Rebel News is sending two journalists to fly down to cover this story from the point of view of the Venezuelan exiles living in Miami. They were surprised by this miraculous removal of the tyrant, someone who had haunted them and until now seemed impossible to remove. But after this morning’s surgical strike, everything feels possible again to them.

If you think it’s important to hear the other side of the story — directly from the mouths of people who had to flee Maduro’s atrocities — please consider chipping in a few dollars to cover the costs of our economy-class airfare to Miami, and our modest hotel.

Between the two of us, we expect our expenses to be $3,000. Unlike the CBC — who loved Maduro, and hate Trump — we get no government money; we’re 100% viewer-supported!

The trip Alexa made to Miami was worth it. It shows what nut cases leftists are and how joyful ex-pats are. And with Trump managing Venezuela, things are bound to be good.
