Toronto police handed out two tickets and $1,230 in fines last night to the driver of the Rebel News billboard truck for stating something most Canadians already believe: men are stronger than women, and letting them compete in women's sports isn't fair.

The truck was parked outside Scotiabank Arena, where WNBA star Sophie Cunningham was in town with the Indiana Fever to face the Toronto Tempo. Cunningham has been outspoken about keeping biological men out of women's sports, and CAWSBAR (Canadian Women's Sex-Based Rights) rented the truck to show her some support.

Then, according to footage captured by Toronto Sun columnist Joe Warmington, a swarm of officers surrounded the truck as if it were an active shooter event.

Sheila Gunn Reid and Lise Merle broke down the fiasco on today's Buffalo Roundtable livestream.

"'Men are just stronger, bigger. I don't think that's a fair matchup,'" Lise said, reading the offending message aloud. "They think that this perfectly reasonable, non-confrontational truth is hate."

Rebel News commander Ezra Levant, reached by phone from the office kitchen, ordered the driver, Mark, to put the ad back up.

"I told him to put the ad back up because of the Charter of Rights, Section 2, freedom of expression," Ezra said.

He didn't stop there. Ezra had a second message added to the truck, aimed squarely at the force that ticketed it: "Fire the chief!"

"Where the hell do you get off shutting down a peaceful political message?" Ezra told the officer over the phone. "We've got a crime wave in Toronto, and you're giving him tickets for that sign?"

Rebel News has retained Toronto criminal lawyer Leora Shemesh, who Ezra says has already flagged the ticket as improperly issued.

"I'm looking forward to trial," Ezra told Joe Warmington in a video captured on the scene. "I think this police department needs a refresher in civil liberties."
