Rebel News went to Ceuta to investigate Spain's migrant crisis firsthand

Rebel News reporter Alexa Lavoie and our head of production, Efrain Monsanto, travelled from Canada to southern Spain to investigate the migrant crisis unfolding in and around the Spanish city of Ceuta.

Thousands of military-aged migrant men have attempted to cross from Morocco into Spanish territory, putting enormous pressure on the border and raising serious questions about security, immigration and the future of Europe's borders.

Instead of relying on politicians, government statements or second-hand reports, we went there ourselves.

Alexa and Efrain spent several days on the ground in Ceuta, speaking with local residents, documenting conditions at the border and investigating what is actually happening in this small Spanish territory on the coast of North Africa.

We've already released several reports from the trip — and we're not finished yet.

Our team captured hours of interviews and footage on the ground, and we're now putting together a longer documentary-style report that will take you deeper inside the story and show you what Alexa and Efrain discovered.

Independent international reporting like this isn't cheap. Flights, trains, ferries, accommodations and other expenses have already cost more than $6,000 — before accounting for the significant time and resources required to produce and edit our reports.

Unlike the government-funded media, we don't receive taxpayer subsidies to send our journalists around the world. We rely on viewers like you.
