Please help us protect press freedom from Regina Police censorship!
Why were the Regina Police blocking me and Rebel News on X, formerly Twitter? I believe it was payback for my reporting on a downtown mosque’s plan to blast the Muslim call to prayer over loudspeakers — a decision the police signed off on, not city council — and for showing up to ask them a few polite questions about it.
So I had our lawyer, Chad Williamson, send Regina Police Service a demand letter, giving them until Friday, July 17, 2026 to unblock us and undertake never to do it again. They blinked, and their lawyer confirmed we’ve been unblocked.
A win is a win. But their surrender letter is one of the strangest documents I’ve read in years: it claims there’s “no record” of any block, then admits it happened before June 30 — and still reserves the right to moderate future comments under its own “policies.” I’ve beaten this same stunt before, against federal cabinet ministers who thought a government account was theirs to control. Regina Police knew how that ends, which is why they folded before we filed anything.
Unlike the Regina Police, we take no tax money — we rely on you. If you think holding a police force accountable for censoring journalists is worth it, please help me cover our legal bill. Thank you.
