STOP JONATHAN YAIV

Suing Yaniv is about self-respect — it's about deterring a serial harasser and reining in a predator. Can you help us serve justice?

We are posting all of our updates on our legal action (and our coverage of Yaniv's legal woes) to this page. Please scroll down to see them and make sure to bookmark YanivTrial.com.

Rebel News is suing Jonathan "Jessica" Yaniv in civil court for his assaults on Keean Bexte and David Menzies.

Suing Yaniv is about self-respect, and it’s about deterring a serial harasser. Most of his victims didn’t know how to fight back — they were new immigrant women who didn’t have access to justice and possibly didn’t even know they could sue him.

Depending on how it goes, this lawsuit could cost us as much as $40,000. But it’s about finally standing up to a bully who is so brazen that he actually felt confident attacking two of our reporters, right outside a courthouse where he was already on trial for weapons offences. Someone’s got to finally stop him, and it looks like it has to be us.

If you can help us cover our legal bills, we’d be grateful — please use the donate form on this page. It’s not about making money. It’s about justice and reining in a predator.

Thank you for your support!

HUGE NEWS: Jonathan Yaniv pleads GUILTY to weapons charge!

Keean Bexte (March 18, 2020):

The world has succumbed to the global coronavirus pandemic — people are dying and it is forcing everyone else into self-isolation.

But thankfully, it's not all doom and gloom as I have some good news to report: BC's notorious ball-waxing litigant Jonathan Yaniv has pleaded guilty in court to a prohibited weapons charge.

Here — check out my full video report to learn more about this landmark development:

I'm glad that Yaniv has decided to plead guilty to a prohibited weapons charge — it's about time this menace fronts up to face the music.

Yaniv uses “mental state” as a defence for violent assault

Keean Bexte (March 11, 2020):

Jonathan "Jessica" Yaniv filed several claims in a British Columbia court today in response to Rebel News’ civil litigation against the Langley area predator. Yaniv, who identifies as female, made headlines around the world for taking female aestheticians to court for refusing to wax his male genitalia.

The civil litigation was filed in January after Yaniv violently assaulted me. Yaniv had already assaulted David Menzies with a blunt weapon — and that is part of the action as well. Yaniv claims he was in an unstable “state of mind” as a defence for the altercation.

Strangely, Yaniv identifies himself to the court as “Jonathan Yaniv, also known as Jessica Yaniv”. Countless Twitter accounts have been suspended and banned for using the name “Jonathan”, which Yaniv now verifiably uses himself.

While Yaniv does have legal counsel retained for his criminal trials, the document filed with the court does not appear to have been written by a lawyer, as it is riddled with contradictions, plus spelling and grammatical mistakes. (You can see that document below.)

Given Yaniv’s claims and refusal to pay damages, this action will proceed to court.

Yaniv's prohibited weapon charges may not go to trial

Sheila Gunn Reid (February 24, 2020):

This morning, Jonathan Yaniv had a court appearance for counts of possession of a prohibited weapon at the Surrey, British Columbia courthouse:

Yaniv games the system, bumps up court appearance, sends lawyer instead

Sheila Gunn Reid (February 11, 2020):

Jonathan "Jessica" Yaniv had a court appearance scheduled for 2 p.m. yesterday in Surrey, British Columbia.

Yaniv was to appear over two charges of possession of a prohibited weapon stemming from an August incident on a live stream with trans YouTuber Blaire White, wherein Yaniv brandished a taser.

I flew out to cover the proceedings and I brought two security professionals with me so I didn’t become just another one of Jonathan Yaniv’s victims.

I also hired a lawyer to ensure that I had access to the courtroom since the sheriffs had prevented Keean Bexte from reporting there in the past.

But ole Johnny boy had a trick up his sleeve:

Yaniv back in court, mother lunges at Sheila Gunn Reid, cops called!

Sheila Gunn Reid (February 5, 2020):

We found out that litigious transgender activist Jonathan "Jessica" Yaniv — also known as Jessica Yaniv — would be in court in Surrey, British Columbia today. So with your help, we hired a lawyer and security to join me so I could ask Jonathan and his mother Miriam about the assault charges we filed against them:

Yaniv has been arrested!

Keean Bexte (January 22, 2020):

Jonathan “Jessica” Yaniv has been arrested by the Surrey RCMP! Here is my update on that developing news:

Criminal investigation confirmed, assault charges expected, civil action filed

Keean Bexte (January 16, 2020):

Jonathan “Jessica” Yaniv could spend as much as five years in prison if he is convicted for his violent assault on me outside a provincial courthouse on Monday.

You can see that assault by scrolling down this page.

I’m currently cooperating with an ongoing RCMP investigation into the assault, and charges are expected to be recommended by police to crown prosecutors.

My footage of Yaniv’s testosterone-fuelled fit of madness went viral on social media and garnered international news coverage — it's probably the reason why the RCMP finally seem ready to enforce the law, even if it’s too late for Yaniv’s other victims, especially the immigrant women he targeted through his infamous ball-waxing scheme.

I will cooperate with the RCMP’s criminal investigation, but the problem with that is, it’s ultimately in the hands of politically-sensitive police and prosecutors. They could agree to a plea bargain; they could even drop the charges outright, in response to political or media pressure — something Yaniv is very good at generating.

The only justice that is within my control is to start a civil lawsuit where I am the plaintiff — along with my fellow Rebel News reporter, David Menzies, who was also assaulted by Yaniv recently. Yaniv actually attacked David with a cane.

So, with the support of Rebel News, David and I will be commencing a civil lawsuit against Yaniv to make sure that he is held accountable for his actions.

The point is to show Yaniv that he’s not allowed to physically assault journalists, even if he doesn’t like their questions.

Suing Yaniv is about self-respect, and it’s about deterring a serial harasser. Most of Yaniv’s victims didn’t know how to fight back — they were new immigrant women who didn’t have access to justice and possibly didn’t even know they could sue him.

How Jonathan “Jessica” Yaniv attacked me outside court

Keean Bexte (January 14, 2020):

Jonathan “Jessica” Yaniv punched me in the head for reporting on his court appearance over prohibited weapons charges!

Yaniv waited inside the courthouse until the moment it closed and as he left, I gently approached him to ask him about it. But instead of answering my questions, he charged into a vicious, testosterone-fuelled rage:

This person is a danger to society. Not only has he tried to extort several aestheticians after they refused to wax his testicles, but he has also been responsible for a number of violent assaults and has been charged with the possession of a prohibited weapon — and yet, he is still free to roam the streets of British Columbia.

It takes a lot to expose Yaniv’s abuse of the system — hours of court research, dozens of interactions with lawyers, thousands of dollars in travel expenses, and today, a savage beating. So, if you believe in our full-contact journalism, please use the form on this page to help us out. Thank you!
