Coronavirus: Torontonians support halt to major league sports — but what about closing borders?

On the bright side, the Toronto Maple Leafs most likely weren’t going to win the Stanley Cup this year anyway...

With Covid-19 fears mounting, several professional sports leagues including the National Basketball Association, the National Hockey League and Major League Soccer have voluntarily decided to suspend their seasons.

Is this a prudent cautionary move or an overreaction to the coronavirus?

I went to Yonge-Dundas Square in downtown Toronto to see what people had to say.

(Spoiler Alert: most respondents thought it was a good idea to stop playing ball.)

But I also asked these same people if the Justin Trudeau Liberals should use their power to do more to ensure public safety — such as fence off those irregular border crossings where illegal migrants continue to illicitly enter Canada.

(Spoiler Alert II: many respondents thought clamping down on illegal immigration was NOT a good idea.)

Bottom line: now you have yet another reminder as to why so many Toronto ridings went Liberal last October...
