PETITION: Save the Rink!
Hockey is more than a game; it’s part of Canada’s identity. In Markham, a backyard rink built by Martin Ross has become a cherished space for kids to enjoy hockey. However, due to a few complaints and strict "heritage property" rules, the City of Markham is demanding its removal, threatening fines up to $500,000 if Martin doesn’t comply.
This decision is unfair, especially since other heritage properties have undergone changes. Despite support from the Markham Heritage Committee, the city insists on demolishing the rink. Martin has already faced $60,000 in legal fees, but the fight isn’t over.
This isn’t just about one rink; it’s about preserving Canadian traditions and standing against bureaucratic overreach. Help us send a message to Markham: Let Martin keep his rink.
Sign now to save Martin’s rink and defend Canada’s game!
