President Donald Trump has officially renamed Lake Ontario to “Lake America,” with the change taking effect immediately.

As Trump signed the executive order, an official explained that it directs Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum and the Department of the Interior to update the Geographic Names Information Service to reflect that the lake once known as Lake Ontario will “from this day forward” be known as Lake America.

The left has been doing their fair share of renaming, including Young-Dundas Square being renamed Sankofa Square and Ryerson University being renamed Toronto Metropolitan University. Where's the outcry then?

Drea credited Matt Walsh with pointing out that the name “Ontario” was used by European explorers on maps long before the Canadian province of Ontario was named. The name itself originates with Indigenous peoples in North America, and there are also cities in the United States called Ontario, meaning the name is also tied to American history.

Doug Ford had also commented that he would not take the bait over the lake renaming, but later referred to Trump as a “loser.”

Maybe Canada should focus less on the "circus side shows" and more on the broader trade relationship between the two countries.
