Trump signs order designating Antifa a domestic terrorist group
Donald Trump has followed through on his promise to formally label the violent left-wing organisation as a domestic terror threat.

Donald Trump has signed an executive order declaring the left-wing group Antifa a “domestic terrorist organization,” the White House confirmed Monday.
“I hereby designate Antifa as a ‘domestic terrorist organization,’” the order states.
The directive instructs that “all relevant executive departments and agencies shall utilize all applicable authorities to investigate, disrupt, and dismantle any and all illegal operations – especially those involving terrorist actions — conducted by Antifa or any person claiming to act on behalf of Antifa, or for which Antifa or any person claiming to act on behalf of Antifa provided material support, including necessary investigatory and prosecutorial actions against those who fund such operations.”

Trump said the decision was based on Antifa’s “pattern of political violence designed to suppress lawful political activity and obstruct the rule of law.”
The former president first foreshadowed the move last week on his Truth Social platform, posting: “I am pleased to inform our many U.S.A. Patriots that I am designating ANTIFA, A SICK, DANGEROUS, RADICAL LEFT DISASTER, AS A MAJOR TERRORIST ORGANIZATION. I will also be strongly recommending that those funding ANTIFA be thoroughly investigated in accordance with the highest legal standards and practices.”
The executive order follows the killing of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk in Utah. Trump blamed “radical left wing political violence” for the attack, saying it is “directly responsible for the terrorism that we’re seeing in our country today, and it must stop right now.”
Antifa, short for “anti-fascists,” refers to a loose coalition of far-left militant groups that often claim they are “not a singular entity” to avoid direct accountability. The terrorist designation will enable the U.S. Justice Department to prosecute individuals who provide material support to the group.

Peter Wrenshall commented 2025-09-23 22:31:03 -0400The Biden administration treated people like parents protesting woke school board policies, supporters of traditional Catholic Masses, and anti-abortion activists as “domestic terrorists”, meanwhile very deliberately looking the other way from the activities of the real domestic terrorists of Antifa. Trump’s announcement is not only a refreshing change, but overdue and urgent – not just necessary. -
