Throne Speech: Focus on climate, gender and race — and COVID-19 to blame for everything

Today, the Governor General delivered the Throne Speech:

The address traditionally delivered by the Queen's representative, even though it is written by the government in power, in this case, the Justin Trudeau Liberals.

I responded to it live as it happened, but tonight I'll analyse it in more depth.

What struck me was how much of the speech relied on slogans and issues borrowed from the United States:

Biden's weird campaign slogan "Build Back Better," all the talk of green new deals and the emphasis on "racialized" Canadians.

The speech focused on women, race, climate — all the usual Liberal, left-wing issues.

And of course, COVID19 was mentioned again and again, as an excuse to spend more money and increase the government's control over Canadians.

NEXT: Keean Bexte was in Ottawa today to cover the Throne Speech, and he snagged two very different interviews with Catherine McKenna and Candice Bergen.

We talk about the speech and what it means for the future.
