Five years ago today, way back in 2015, Ezra talked about the statements then-candidate Donald Trump made during his announcement for his presidential bid. Like many people, Ezra was very skeptical, assuming “The Donald” was just being his usual showman self. But then Ezra did something crazy. He watched his speech, and listened to what he had to say.

Trump talked about America’s lack of victories in trade with foreign competitors. He talked about the difficulties of illegal immigration coming through Mexico. Perhaps most importantly, Trump declared that he would be the biggest cheerleader for America.
