Save the Truck!

The Rebel News digital billboard truck is a giant, high-resolution LED screen on wheels — a rolling, censorship-proof platform for free speech. It has been seen by hundreds of thousands of people on the streets and tens of millions of people on social media. Needless to say, the establishment and the radical left don’t like it.

Why we bought the truck

We bought this truck after the horrific Hamas massacre of October 7, when the advertising companies we used to work with suddenly refused to rent us their trucks. They told us they were too scared to run any message critical of Hamas, because they feared their trucks would be attacked and their drivers injured by jihadist protestors.

So we took matters into our own hands and built our own mobile fortress for free speech — a truck that takes our uncensored message straight to the streets, getting around the censors on TV and on the internet, and reaching people directly wherever the truth needs to be told.

Investigated for “hate crimes” — more than once

In June of 2024, the Toronto Police opened a Hate Crime investigation into the truck over a lawful, third-party ad criticizing the pro-Hamas gangs occupying our streets and campuses. The politicians and the police called the ad “Islamophobic” and suggested a crime had been committed — and Ezra Levant could have faced up to two years in jail simply for running it.

Ezra’s response? He drove the truck straight to Toronto police headquarters, parked it out front, walked in, and asked to be arrested. No one would do it — because running an ad is not a crime. It’s free speech, and you can look it up in our Charter of Rights.

It wasn’t the last time. The Toronto Police keep pulling the truck over, and have investigated it yet again over another lawful sponsored ad. Each time, we’ve had to hire lawyers to defend the truck against these trumped-up accusations — and we fight back every single time.

Attacked, smashed, and forced off the road

While confronting an Antifa protest at Queen’s Park in September 2024, the truck was violently attacked. A deranged protestor threw a brick at the truck, smashing the screen. Thankfully our driver was not harmed, but several video panels were destroyed. We had to pull the truck off the road and take it to a special shop to:

  • repair the screens,
  • place security film on the windows, and
  • install a high-tech 360-degree video camera surveillance system to catch any future vandals.

Those repairs and upgrades alone cost over $5,000.

A costly machine to keep on the road

This truck is not cheap to operate. Over the past two years we’ve driven it tens of thousands of kilometres, and the bills never stop:

  • We had to fully replace the transmission — a $6,500 refurbishment, plus labour and HST on top.
  • The generator fuel tank gave out after the federal election campaign — another $2,000 for the part and $700 for labour.
  • We pay the driver’s salary, fuel, insurance, and ongoing regular maintenance, month after month.
  • We regularly have to hire security guards to protect the truck, the driver, and our team when we send it to protests, because of ongoing Antifa threats and attacks.
  • And we keep lawyers on standby to defend the truck from bogus hate crime accusations.

Unlike the CBC and the rest of the mainstream media, we don’t get a blank cheque from the taxpayer. We rely entirely on you.

Why it matters

This truck is one of the most effective tools we have. It lets us take our message directly to the streets and straight to the people — getting around the censors on TV and the internet, where no cancel culture mob, no bureaucrat, and no Big Tech algorithm can silence us.

We’ve taken it right across the country: to Alberta to fight for the province against Ottawa, to Sarnia and Sudbury and Sault Ste. Marie to stand with workers, and to Montreal and Ottawa to confront the politicians and the radical woke leftists and Islamists who would rather we stayed silent. Wherever we park it, people stop, pull out their phones, and share the message — and it doesn’t need permission from a single gatekeeper to do it.

JOIN THE FIGHT

If you love this truck as much as we do — and if you believe it’s an important tool for free speech and for confronting the radical woke leftists and Islamists who want to shut us down — we need your help to cover the repairs, the security, the legal bills, the driver, the fuel, the insurance, and all the ongoing costs of keeping it on the road.
