In an X Spaces conversation October 23, Elon Musk warned the West is "sleepwalking" its way into WWIII – jeopardizing human civilization.

"World War III is a civilizational risk that we may not recover from," he said. "Where is Israel-Hamas war headed? Could this lead to WW3?" Roughly one million listeners tuned in for the conversation, according to the platform.

"We need to prioritize avoiding World War III, that's what actually matters. And not, as happened in World War I, have a regional conflict rapidly become a global conflict," continued the tech billionaire.

Musk warned that another global conflict of that nature would ultimately cascade out of control. "Before you know it, you've got a massive global conflict with devastation that far exceeds WWI or WWII," he said on X.

"People should be deeply self-reflective. They should consider whether perhaps there are other predictions might not come true either."

"I want to emphasize that [...] there are tragedies on an individual level, tragedies on a community level, and then there’s civilizational risk," he continued.

Musk also urged the U.S. to normalize relations with Russia once again and prioritize a ceasefire in Ukraine. He called Russia's war against Ukraine a "hopeless situation."

"I think we need to stop doing that. It’s unwise, and I think will lead to an immense risk to civilization," he said.

During the Spaces discussion, Musk claimed no anti-Russian insurgency exists in the Russian-occupied "Russian-speaking areas of Ukraine" - hinting current battlelines could form a permanent border at the expense of Ukraine.

The tech behemoth also acknowledged the U.S. trails both China and Russia in industrial productivity, forewarning Western leaders against inadvertently driving both countries into "an axis of immense power against the west and laying the groundwork for World War Three."

He said that "Russia has the raw materials, and China has the industrial capacity," adding: "It’s frankly, a perfect match from a war standpoint."
