On Monday's live stream, Sheila Gunn Reid and David Menzies reacted to a bizarre video from Jagmeet Singh in which he claimed people have been coming up to him ever since the last election and thanking him 'for his service.'

The former NDP leader posted the video to TikTok about one week ago, noting he was sharing his thoughts about "Leadership and Service".

"Ever since the last election, something's been happening," he began. "People have been coming up to me and saying, 'Thank you for your service.' Folks have been biking by and yelling it out, shouting it out from their cars, people have been coming right up to me and saying it," he said.

The purported message behind Singh's video is to view leadership as a service and means of giving back to the people around you. 

David condemned the former NDP leader and doubted the authenticity of his claims. "The only truthful thing he said, and wow what a quote, is when he said 'no, no, no, I'm not the leader.' Uh yeah that's right because you lost your own seat," he said.

David went on: "And not only that but you threw your party under the bus for your pension. You threw your country under the bus for your pension, and by the way Mr. Singh — those people passing by in the cars putting their hands out the window — are you sure you're looking at the right digit and that it's a thumb up and not a middle finger up, because I suspect that is what you're getting, not the reverse."

Singh lost his seat in the federal election on April 28, 2025, in the Burnaby Central riding, finishing third behind Liberal candidate Wade Chang and Conservative candidate James Yan.
