Candidates face off in Toronto ahead of consequential federal byelections

Three federal byelections are slated for Aug. 31 and Mark Carney is desperate to hang on to his majority government. We paid a house call to the Toronto riding of Beaches—East York.

The Calvary Baptist Church in Toronto was the venue for a candidates’ debate for the federal riding of Beaches—East York last Wednesday evening. Beaches—East York is one of three federal ridings up for grabs on Monday, Aug. 31.

Of note, the Mark Carney Liberals need to win one of the three seats to maintain their majority. The other two seats in play are North Vancouver—Capilano in British Columbia and Chicoutimi—Le Fjord in Quebec.

We dropped by the Beaches—East York debate to survey constituents (almost all of whom said they are not fans of the Carney Liberals.)

And we brought along our big, beautiful billboard truck. Incredibly, unlike our visit to Scotiabank Arena last Tuesday, the Toronto Police did not swarm us and fine us more than $1,200 and demand we turn off our billboard messaging. Maybe nobody complained? Or perhaps the Toronto Police Service is still licking its wounds due to the colossal international PR black eye it received earlier this week when some uber-woke member of the brass deemed that a message about keeping female sports female is not common sense, but rather, tantamount to anti-transgender hate speech.

What losers…

As for the Wednesday evening caper in east-end Toronto, here’s the skinny: Rebel News Commander Ezra Levant has registered a third-party campaign group with Elections Canada. This means Ezra can legally raise money and spend it campaigning — including criticizing Carney and his candidates.

The campaign is called Brookfield Watch. We think you can guess why. Brookfield is the trillion-dollar asset empire Carney helped run before politics — approximately 2,000 businesses in housing, energy, insurance and data centres.

Astute viewers will no doubt recall Rebel News investigations that followed the Brookfield money offshore. Two Carney-led green funds worth $25 billion are registered in Bermuda at an address shared with a bicycle-rental shop! Meanwhile, a Brookfield entity in the Isle of Man is headquartered in a private apartment.

Nothing fishy about that…

Meanwhile, testimony at the Commons Ethics Committee revealed that more than $3 billion in Brookfield investments are linked to China, financing from the Bank of China, and that Carney had meetings with Xi Jinping himself.

Golly, maybe this is why Carney is so gung-ho on the importation of China-manufactured EVs into Canada?

The purpose of the truck is to make people aware of these disturbing shenanigans – especially given that the trained seals in the mainstream media can’t be bothered to do so.

Of note: our truck is not without success when it comes to influencing public opinion. In the last federal election, our truck went after two disgraceful Liberal MPs — Ya’ara Saks in York Centre (Toronto) and Majid Jowhari in Richmond Hill South. Both were defeated.

Yes, both those ridings typically swing Liberal. But the truck rattles them — it knocks them off their carefully scripted message and forces them to answer questions about Brookfield that they’d rather ignore. Liberals typically expect a coronation; we can make sure they don’t get one.

And sometimes simply changing the conversation is a victory in itself. If we can help pull off an upset along the way, all the better.

Also, unlike donations to a political party, contributions to a registered third party in a by-election have no limit. So even if you’ve already given to the Conservatives, you can still fuel our truck.

Please go to www.BrookfieldWatch.com and if you’re able to, chip in whatever you can to keep our truck rolling.

After all, Mark Carney is obsessed with maintaining a majority government — something that was denied to him by Canadians more than a year ago. But he played dirty, getting an unprecedented five MPs to cross the floor.

Does that feel like democracy to you?

Send the Truck

Mark Carney expects three quiet Liberal victories in the August 31 by-elections. Brookfield Watch is sending a digital billboard truck into Chicoutimi–Le Fjord, Beaches–East York and North Vancouver–Capilano to follow the money, challenge the power and expose Brookfield’s offshore structures and Chinese Communist Party connections. Help us make sure these races are impossible to ignore.
