WE Charity used taxpayer money to hire Trudeau fangirl Lilly Singh for California event

Exclusive: The Canadian government paid WE Charity to hire Liberal-friendly celebrities to appear at a WE Day event... in California.

The scandal surrounding the Liberal government's seemingly constant funneling of money to the WE Organization is like an onion. Peel back a layer and there is always something underneath!

The scandal first broke when it was revealed by Canadaland that WE, the organization the Liberal government had chosen through a sole-source contract to administer a $1 billion student volunteer-for-subsidy program, had paid Justin Trudeau's mother and brotherover $300,000 to speak at WE Day events.

The scandal-plagued also linked back to Finance Minister Bill Morneau through his two daughters, one of which was on the WE payroll.

But speaking gigs to uninteresting Trudeau family members, and being awarded a sweetheart contract to administer student welfare grants aren't the only ways money was being cycled to WE and back around the Liberals.

Earlier this week we uncovered a $25,000 sole-source contract from the public health agency of Canada over to WE in late 2019. Yesterday, we broke the news that an $11,000 sole-source contract for just one week of work went from the public service school of Canada to WE in 2017.

Both of these contracts were for “unspecified services”.

Rebel News Archives: WE Day in 2017

Today's addition to the ever-growing cloud of scandals growing around the WE organization and the Liberal government comes to us in a  response to an order paper question asked by Conservative MP Bob Zimmer in 2017 - which we still had in our files since.

Zimmer wanted the breakdown by government department for public relations spending.

And according to that order paper return, Global Affairs Canada spent Canadian tax dollars in 2017 to pay Canadian celebrities to attend a WE Day bash in California under the guise of “public relations”:

Global Affairs Canada on March 31st 2017 paid $13,374 to the WE charity to help them secure the appearances of Canadian talent at WE day in California in 2017.

The 2017 We Day California Fabulous Forum in Inglewood California was hosted by Selena Gomez, and she was joined by Alicia Keys, Demi Lovato, Bryan Cranston, DJ Khaled, Miss Piggy, and the Muppets, Tyrese Gibson, Lily Collins, Laila Ali.

The only high profile Canadian on the list was Lilly Singh.

Lilly Singh's Trudeau #ManCrush

Lilly Singh was a hired Elections Canada influencers who also conveniently happened to bea raging Trudeau fan. When the partisanship of the influencers drew attention from critics the program was canceled but not before the influencers got their big payday.

According to Global News

Singh had, in December 2015, posted a photo of newly elected Prime Minister Justin Trudeau praising his appointment of a gender-balanced cabinet along with the hashtag #mancrushfriday.

Nice little scam these WE people have going: hire Liberal celebrities for a star-studded party in another country. Then get the rest of us to pay for it.
