Please sign the petition to demand the strengthening of the law that a man's home is his castle!
To: The Government of Ontario and the Attorney General of Canada
We, the undersigned, believe no Canadian should face criminal charges for defending their own home and family from violent intruders.
The case of Jeremy McDonald in Lindsay, Ontario, is an outrage. A violent, serial criminal broke into his house at 3 a.m. Jeremy did what any father would do — he protected his family. Instead of charging the intruder, police charged Jeremy with aggravated assault and other offences.
This injustice shows how urgently Canada needs stronger “castle law” protections — laws that clearly affirm that a person’s home is their castle, and that the right to defend one’s home and loved ones is fundamental.
We call on lawmakers to:
-
Drop the charges against Jeremy McDonald immediately.
-
Reform Canada’s self-defence laws to strengthen protections for homeowners and families.
-
Ensure police and prosecutors uphold the principle that Canadians have the right to defend their homes without fear of being treated as criminals.
No Canadian family should ever fear both criminals outside their doors and charges from the justice system inside the courtroom.
We demand action now!
