Next up, the dogs: Coronavirus shuts down Toronto's off-leash parks

It’s a dog eat dog world out there... and sometimes it feels like I’m wearing Milk-Bone underwear...

Alas and alack, even man’s best friend is now being affected by the #coronovirus!

Toronto has shut down its off-leash dog parks because the owners of Fido and Spot are allegedly getting too close to one and other and therefore not practicing proper social distancing etiquette.

And as a result, canines in the concrete jungle are now confined to the sidewalks just like their human masters (“masters”? Are we still allowed to use that word for dog owners or have the sensitive folk at People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals issued an edict against such speciest language?)

In any event, I visited a downtown Toronto dog park and this piece of prime real estate — which, miraculously, is not a construction site for a new multi-storey condo (yet) — was locked down and taped off. And although the fencing can be easily breached — at least by the humanoid types — dog owners were indeed respecting the new rules, including the edict to consistently stay 2 metres away from others — at least those “others” who don’t sport tails...
