On last night's episode of The Ezra Levant Show, Ezra discussed the horrific assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk and its implications on free speech and political debate.

Kirk, who founded the successful conservative organization Turning Point USA, died on Wednesday after being shot while speaking at an event at Utah Valley University.

"He engages in debate, he would go into the heart of university campuses and spend all day talking one-on-one in conversations with people who disagreed with him, trying to reason together," said Ezra.

"He was the best of America in that way as he didn't shout, he didn't lecture, he engaged. It was participative, and I think he treated everyone with respect, even the people he deeply disagreed with," Ezra continued.

Discussing the implications of Kirk's passing, Ezra discussed the importance of not fleeing away from the 'battle of ideas'. He noted the suspected shooter was likely trying to strike fear into conservatives and silence activism.

"If Charlie Kirk's supporters and friends choose rather than to leave the battle of ideas, to double down and to re-invest, maybe we can in some way compensate for Charlie's untimely death," he said.

Authorities announced today that 22-year-old Tyler Robinson of Utah has been taken into custody in connection with the assassination. Robinson was reportedly turned over to law enforcement by a family member who had information that he was involved in the shooting.

Kirk is remembered by his supporters as a devout Christian, husband, father to two young children, and freedom-loving American.
