President Donald Trump has closed the gap on Democrat nominee Joe Biden’s lead in Georgia on Monday, through the discovery of a batch of 2,600 ballots that were discovered in Floyd County.

Following the discovery of the missing ballots, calls are growing for election officials in Georgia overseeing the voting process to resign.

Gabriel Stirling, the Voting System Implementation Manager for Georgia stated that the unofficial breakdown for ballots was 1,643 for Trump, 865 for Biden, and 16 for Libertarian Jo Jorgensen.

Stirling tweeted, “Here is the unofficial breakdown of the ballots that weren’t originally uploaded I Floyd. 1,643 votes for Pres. Trump, 865 for former VP Biden and 16 for Libertarian Jo Jorgensen. That is +778 for President Trump that will be reflected in the certified result.”

The apparent error occurred due to election officials missed uploading a memory card containing the voting results to a ballot counting machine.

“The Georgia Secretary of State is asking for the executive director of the Floyd County Board of Elections, Robert Brady, to step down after 2,600 ballots were left uncounted prior to the county’s initial certification,” reported Fox 5 Atlanta “The error was discovered on Sunday during the third day of the state’s audit.”

Officials warned that the additional votes are still not yet enough to change the outcome of the presidential election in the state.

The discovery of new ballots could help to change the course of the House results in Georgia, potentially swinging Democratic seats to Republican ones.

WSBTV reported that calls have been made for the elections director to resign, per Josh Caplan of Breitbart News.
