Indigenous GasLink blockade “the only card left to play”: Local First Nations woman talks environment, opioids, economy

Contrary to reports saying the RCMP have retreated out of the Crown Land west of Houston British Columbia, they remain on active duty patrolling the roadway ensuring remains clear.

All blockades all the way up to the #CoastalGasLink work site have been cleared, and the only remaining resistance is a small lot at kilometre 24 staffed by three masked protesters.

I spoke to them to ask them what their plans would be moving forward, and how they felt about the police not retreating from the area.

Then, I spoke with a local First Nations woman to ask her opinion on the blockades as a way of gaining attention, and whether the community would benefit from the work.
