Health Canada's assault on natural remedies prompts cross-country fight for freedom

Constitutional lawyer Shawn Buckley is leading a cross-Canada campaign with a 150,000-signature petition to advocate for Health Freedom to protect Canadians' access to life-changing natural health products.

Health Canada continues its relentless campaign against natural health products, treating them like Big Pharma's trillion-dollar empire, in an era where informed consent and medical freedom hang by a thread.

This regulatory stranglehold not only stifles innovation but keeps Canadians sick and silent. Leading the charge against this overreach is constitutional lawyer Shawn Buckley, founder of the Natural Health Products Protection Association (NHPPA), who has been battling for protections since drafting the Charter of Health Freedom in 2008.

Now, armed with a petition boasting nearly 150,000 signatures — the third largest in Canadian history — Buckley is embarking on a retro Volkswagen van road trip across the nation.

Starting October 4 from Victoria, B.C., and Charlottetown, P.E.I., converging groups will journey to Ottawa by October 25 to present the charter and petitions to Parliament. Along the way, they'll host in-person events and broadcast “The World's Greatest Health Show,” an online series airing eight hours daily, four days a week, in English and French.

Buckley was upfront about Health Canada's motives.

“Health Canada has a war on nutrients,” he warns. “They've made it so our food supply isn't healthy, and yet we have to fight to protect our access to nutrients... The Charter of Health Freedom entrenches our health rights, takes the regulation out of Health Canada's hands, and forces a fair regulatory environment.”

The show aims to shatter censorship by amplifying what Buckley calls “forbidden knowledge” — real stories from Canadians whose lives were transformed by natural remedies.

Buckley recounts one in particular: “I was interviewing a lady... hyperglycemic, the doctor put her on metformin, and it was killing her. She was nauseous, throwing up... She started crying during the interview... She goes to a naturopathic doctor, gets a herbal remedy, she becomes well.”

Exposing the system’s bias, Buckley points out that “Health Canada's salaries are paid by the pharmaceutical industry... In the lifetime of anyone watching this, the only treatments approved to treat any condition are chemical drugs that had a patent.”

He further denounces Health Canada’s Orwellian named “self-care framework,” which aims to harmonize natural products with risky synthetics, which appears to ignore generations of safe use of natural remedies.

Why the fear? Buckley says, “It's a great business model, but it kills us and keeps us sick.”

“Why do we have to fight for nutrition? How can Health Canada tell us it's illegal to use ginger tea to treat nausea?”

As stories pour in — of despair turned to hope, even suicide averted — Buckley urges action: “We want to let people know who are suffering that you don't have to give up... We're going to demand change because Parliament's being unresponsive.”

Help Rebel News continue its reporting on the Ostrich massacre!

For months, our team has been on the ground at Universal Ostrich Farms, documenting every step of this tragedy — from the first ominous signs of federal overreach to the night nearly a thousand shots rang out, leaving a field of hundreds of dead ostriches and a family shattered.

Our journalists confronted the RCMP, pressed CFIA officials, launched drones to reveal the truth, and refused to be intimidated or silenced.

But holding powerful institutions to account takes resources: travel, security, legal access, and the manpower of an around-the-clock reporting team.

If you believe in independent journalism that asks the tough questions the establishment won’t touch, please chip in to help us keep digging.
