“More compassionate” Canadians say Trump deserved to get COVID-19

Question of the day: Who is more compassionate — Americans or Canadians?

We posed this query at Yonge-Dundas Square in downtown Toronto. Almost 100% of respondents said Canucks trumped Yanks in the compassion department (a few said it all depends on the individual, which, when you think about it, might very well be the most accurate answer).

Nevertheless, the question arises: what does such a question about compassion and nationality have to do with anything that’s in the news these days? Well, everything comes into context with the follow-up query we posed while we were still at Yonge-Dundas Square.

Namely, now that it has been reported that U.S. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump are COVID-19 positive, we asked the same passersby, who were bragging about superior Canadian compassion, if they hoped that the Trumps would enjoy a speedy recovery?

Yikes! Alas and alack, suddenly many of those folks quickly ran out of compassion when it came to the plight of the President and the First Lady — with some even saying that the Trumps “deserved” to get the Wuhan virus!

Check out the video evidence for yourself, which would seem to suggest that many Canadians have compassion galore... except when it comes to anything that’s Trump-related.
