PETITION: Save The Sir John A. Macdonald Parkway
Sir John Alexander Macdonald was the first prime minister of Canada and a dominant figure of Canadian Confederation, with a political career spanning almost half a century.
But in recent years, a wave of political correctness began calling for the renaming of statues, roads, universities, and other institutions in the name of “anti-racism efforts.”
The Sir John A. Macdonald Parkway, a scenic route near the Ottawa River for motorists, cyclists, and runners, is now at risk of a name change.
Liberal MP for Ottawa-Centre, Yasir Naqvi, announced he wants to rename the Sir John A. MacDonald Parkway in 2023 to honour “Indigenous history.”
Although no decisions are finalized, renaming this parkway is a slap in the face to Canadian history.
If you agree that the Liberals must halt these negotiations, sign the petition on this page.
