Recently, a vigil was held at the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts in honour of the victims of the Ukrainian jetliner shot down in Iran.

Many attended, including several local, provincial and federal politicians. But conspicuous by his absence was the Liberal MP for the very riding where the vigil took place: Majid Jowhari.

But perhaps Jowhari being AWOL was an act of self-preservation for the elusive MP. After all, despite 57 Canadians dying on that plane, Jowhari is a supporter of the mullahs in Iran.
