“Anti-Vaxxer,” “Conspiracy Theorist,” “Anti-Masker,” oh, and the ultimate silencer, “White Supremacist.”
These are the terms the far left and mainstream media are increasingly utilizing to attack and undermine those who have a different set of views or concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
On October 15, The Vancouver & District Labour Council (VDLC) spearheaded a slanderous campaign in the form of an open letter which targeted the organizers, speakers and protesters who attended the peaceful BC Mega Freedom Rally 2020.
In addition to declaring the protesters as an “alliance of conspiracy believers, anti-vaxxers, white supremacists and neo-Nazis,” there was also a undertone to what was written that could easily be interpreted as a call to violence against the protesters.
After the release of the letter which was signed and supported by many influential organizations and individuals like David Suzuki, Public Service Alliance Canada, and the Vancouver Green Party, more publications were released that had parallel rhetoric.
Watch my full report to hear directly from some of the protest attendees, and also why I feel this is a prime example of how the far left use defamatory labels to try and suppress the free speech of those who do not bow to their own ideology.
It's not just myself who felt that the organizers, speakers and protesters at this event were targeted and bullied by the VDLC!
Action 4 Canada Corporation has started a petition named a “Call to Retract Letter Inciting Hate and Violence.” The call is not only for a retraction of the letter, but as well as for the immediate resignation of Mr. Stephen Sychowski, President of the VDLC, and Mr. Anthony Hughes, Chair of the Vancouver Green Party.
