Please sign our petition to the UK government to Stop the BBC Licence Fee!
To the UK Government,
The BBC licence fee is an unjust, outdated tax that forces millions of British citizens to fund a broadcaster they may not support or even watch. This coercive system criminalises non-payment, threatening people with fines and even imprisonment for simply choosing not to subsidise the BBC.
The modern media landscape has changed dramatically — Britons now have countless alternatives for news and entertainment, yet they are still compelled to bankroll the BBC under threat of legal action. This is unfair, undemocratic, and completely out of step with the principles of a free society.
The government has acknowledged that the current funding model is unsustainable. If that’s the case, why continue burdening taxpayers with a mandatory fee for an outdated service?
We, the undersigned, call on the UK government to immediately abolish the BBC licence fee and allow the BBC to operate as a voluntary, subscription-based service like its competitors. If the BBC truly offers value, let it prove it in the free market — without state-mandated financial backing.
SCRAP THE LICENCE FEE NOW!
