City of Calgary's out-of-control spending on employees was uncovered, then ignored
Calgary's mayor and much of city council are on the naughty list again this year.
For about the last half century, outgoing city bureaucrats have been the quiet recipients of one huge golden handshake, courtesy of beleaguered Calgary taxpayers.
According to the Calgary Sun's Rick Bell, the “unofficial practice of awarding retirement bonuses to departing employees equivalent to their annual vacation pay” was uncovered by the Canadian Taxpayers Federation in 2018 and yet nothing substantive has been done to end the practice.
Joining me tonight to talk about this and the out of control spending at City Hall in 2019 is William McBeath from Save Calgary.
