Trump takes on UN as Carney pushes globalist message

Ezra Levant looks at comments from U.S. President Donald Trump to the United Nations and compares his message to Prime Minister Mark Carney's speech to the Council on Foreign Relations.

At the United Nations general assembly this week, U.S. President Donald Trump took on the status quo, delivering a speech outlining his vision for America and the world — despite curious disruptions to the escalator as he entered the building and to his teleprompter during his speech.

Prime Minister Mark Carney, on the other hand, did not deliver remarks to the assembly of nations. Rather, Carney gave a speech to one of the world's most influential think tanks, the Council on Foreign Relations.

On Tuesday night's episode of The Ezra Levant Show, Ezra looked at Carney's comments to the globalist hotbed.

Taking aim at Carney's comments about the “rules-based order,” a popular talking point used with little basis in reality, Ezra said “no rules” went along with the PM's “endorsement of a terror state” when he, alongside the United Kingdom and France, officially recognized a Palestinian state.

“I think he only talks about the rules when they favour him,” Ezra said.

“And when he talks about authoritarianism,” he continued, Carney is the same person who “took time out from his overseas work to write an op-ed in the Globe and Mail saying that Trudeau wasn't going hard enough and far enough” in his efforts to suppress the anti-mandate 2022 Freedom Convoy protest.

“It's a bit much for someone who wanted Trudeau to go harder against a peaceful protest to complain against authoritarianism,” Ezra said, recalling reports of Carney pushing the Liberals to seize bank accounts, one of the most egregious violations of Canadians' rights during the demonstration.

The PM also claimed “Canada is thriving,” a statement Ezra deeply disagreed with. “Do you know anyone in any industry who would use that word?” Carney's assertion that Canada is an “AI superpower” was also “laughable,” he said.

The Liberal leader also defended Canada's pluralistic society and praised the diversity of our cities, describing the “public square” as “loud, diverse and free.”

But is that really true, asked Ezra.

“There is loudness in the public square, he's right on that part,” the Rebel News publisher said. “But it's also violent and bigoted and full of foreign extremists, including 700 agents of Iran. So yeah, we have a loud public square. But it's hounding Jews and sometimes shooting up Jewish schools.”

Contrary to his claims of supporting freedom, the Carney Liberals continue to push more censorship legislation.

“Why does Mark Carney say certain things in public when he's got an American audience that just aren't true?” Ezra wondered. “Most of his speech is just endless bureaucracy speak, a sort of fog of meaningless jargon.”

Carney told so many nose-stretchers in that speech, he may have to change his name to Pinocchio.
