The Indiana Fever visited Toronto last Tuesday to take on the Tempo. Unfortunately, much of the chatter around this match had less to do with basketball and more to do with transanity.

Alas, the powers-that-be running the WNBA are having trouble answering a question that a Grade 1 student could ace: What is a woman?

Part of the problem is that the Women’s National Basketball Association was founded in 1996. The whole idea of the WNBA was to give elite female basketball players a professional league to play in. And 30 years ago, radical transgenderism was really not a thing.

But fast-forward to 2026, and the woefully woke folk running the WNBA are actually having great difficulty defining the word “woman.” Is a woman someone who is, you know, actually female? Or can a woman be a man who merely “identifies” as being female?

According to WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert, this is a “complex and nuanced topic.”

What a dolt. What a coward.

To add to this surreal environment, at least two former NBA players say they are making themselves available for the WNBA draft. If drafted, they will surely dominate the league.

All of which means that the WNBA is now at risk of becoming a bad joke without a punchline. Could this league be a gateway for has-been/never-was male basketball players to be signed by teams? All in the name of “inclusion.”

But when the WNBA and the WNBA Players’ Association play the inclusion card, it’s ludicrous. If there’s one element of society that is all about exclusion, it's professional sports. Sports are the ultimate meritocracy — only the best are drafted, and only the best of the best are paid millions of dollars to play.

In the case of the WNBA, if males are not excluded based on their biological advantages, then there’s really no reason for a women's pro basketball league. Too bad the woke cowards running the WNBA can't grasp this reality.

Rebel News dropped by Scotiabank Arena to ask fans if men should be allowed to play in the WNBA. The resounding answer: No!

If the fans can figure out this "complex and nuanced topic," why can't the league, the players' association, and the owners?
