Even CNN's Don Lemon is having trouble reconciling the Democrat's treatment of Joe Biden's sexual assault allegations with their reaction to the Brett Kavanaugh accusations.
During Lemon's interview with Stacey Abrams, a failed Georgia gubernatorial candidate, he asked, "Are you applying a different standard?" in relation to her reaction to the Joe Biden case.
Abrams, who is hoping to snag the position of Joe Biden's Vice Presidential pick, said that she believes Joe Biden when he says the allegations against him didn't happen, stating:
“I believe Joe Biden...I believe that he is a person who has demonstrated that his love of family, his love of our community, has been made perfectly clear through his work as a congressional leader and as an American leader. I know Joe Biden and I think he’s telling the truth and that this did not happen.”
When saying she believed the claims had been adequately investigated, Abrams referred to a New York Times investigation that deemed the accusations against Biden were "not credible," as per the Daily Caller.
When comparing this to Abrams' reaction to Dr. Christine Blasey Ford's accusations against Justice Kavanaugh, it's easy to see, as the CNN host pointed out, why some may think she is applying a double standard in this case. Lemon referred to the following tweet during the interview:
The response from mainstream media and Democrats is a stark difference to that of the Brett Kavanaugh hearings, which included wall-to-wall coverage for weeks with far more outlandish claims.
Given that Biden is running for President and Kavanaugh for Supreme Court at the time, parallels can definitely be drawn in terms of importance.
