Fire and hate: Israel flags set ablaze at a Toronto church
Toronto police are investigating a hate crime incident, the latest in a string of attacks in the city since the Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas terror attack against Israel.
It appears that “celebrating” the Oct. 7, 2023, terrorist attack against Israel got off to an early start in Toronto.
Which is to say, the Word of Faith International Christian Centre had erected several Israel flags on the front lawn. But at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 7, someone (or some people) paid a visit to set those flags ablaze. All of the flags were incinerated.
The silver lining: it doesn’t appear that the church itself suffered any damage.
When Rebel News dropped by around noon that day, there was a heavy police presence. The incident is being investigated by the Hate Crime Unit. No arrests have been made, and police have not released any suspect information.
Of note: Toronto mayoral candidate Brad Bradford quickly condemned the arson on social media, describing it as an act of intimidation directed at both the Jewish community and local worshippers.
Early this morning, someone set Israeli flags on fire outside a church in North York. Police are investigating it as a hate-motivated offence. Thankfully, no one was hurt.

Stated Bradford: “This was not a protest. It was an act of intimidation, aimed at the Jewish community and, it seems, Christian residents right here in Toronto and at a place of worship. Fire and hate, together, on a residential street before dawn. That’s meant to frighten people, and everyone in this city should say plainly that it has no place here.”
At time of writing, Mayor Olivia Chow hadn’t issued a statement about this incident. Then again, an election is underway, and we assume Mayor Chow is very wary of offending the pro-Hamas set that tend to vote for her.
Despicable.
