We, the undersigned, call on Chief Myron Demkiw to resign from his position as Chief of Police in Toronto.

If he does not resign, the Toronto Police Services Board or Mayor Olivia Chow must fire Demkiw now.

Toronto is facing a policing scandal that should alarm every citizen — and it points straight to a failure of leadership at the top.

Eight Toronto police officers are now facing serious criminal charges, including bribery, drug trafficking, leaking confidential police data to criminal networks, and helping facilitate violent crime. According to investigators, leaked police information was even used to help plan a murder. This wasn’t a minor internal breach — it was a collapse of integrity inside the force itself.

Public trust in policing has cratered. And instead of immediately demanding a fully independent external investigation, Chief Myron Demkiw pushed for the police to investigate itself under his own supervision. That’s not real accountability — that’s circling the wagons.

When corruption reaches this level, leadership matters. Oversight matters. Transparency matters. Toronto cannot afford a police chief under whom such widespread alleged misconduct took root — and who now resists truly independent scrutiny.

Toronto needs a reset. Toronto needs accountable leadership. Toronto needs a new police chief!
