If Poilievre is weak, why do Liberals want him gone?
The Liberals never ran a campaign to get rid of Jagmeet Singh when he was weak, because a weak opponent is a gift, and Ezra Levant says that tells you everything about why they're so eager to see Pierre Poilievre replaced.

Ezra Levant asked viewers an obvious question on Tuesday night's episode of The Ezra Levant Show.
If the Liberals and the media truly believe Pierre Poilievre is a weak leader who can't win, why are they so eager to see him gone? "If your opponent is weak, you keep him," Ezra said. "You pray he stays. You send him a fruit basket."
He pointed to David Coletto of Abacus Data, the establishment pollster the CBC and the Globe and Mail rely on. In September, Coletto modelled what would happen if Poilievre were replaced by an imaginary leader nobody disliked. The gain was a meagre 2%. The real reason the Conservatives trail, Coletto found, is that Mark Carney is popular right now.
Yet the stories keep coming. CTV cited more than a dozen anonymous caucus sources calling the party a "fractured mess," but none has put their name to it or used the Reform Act to trigger a review. Party members, meanwhile, gave Poilievre 87% at their convention in Calgary.
"That's not a leadership crisis," Ezra said. "I think it's a Mean Girls campaign."
He compared it to Jagmeet Singh, whose NDP polled terribly for years while propping up the Liberals. "Did the Liberals run a campaign to get rid of Jagmeet Singh? No, of course not," Ezra said. "You don't try to fire the opponent you want to face. You try to fire the one you don't."
As for the so-called Conservatives piling on, he said some still want their 2022 leadership pick, while others are eyeing Liberal appointments, pointing to Erin O'Toole's spot on Carney's Canada-U.S. advisory council. "Every time they dump on Pierre Poilievre on Twitter, they're auditioning."
The latest Abacus poll shows the Liberals up 12 overall, but Conservatives lead among Canadians under 45. The Liberal advantage comes almost entirely from voters over 60, whose homes are paid off and pensions indexed. Young Canadians living with the housing, jobs and crime crises have picked Poilievre.
If Poilievre loses, Ezra said, it won't be because he's weak. "The Liberals never tried to get rid of Jagmeet Singh," he said. "Ask yourself why they're trying so hard to get rid of Pierre Poilievre. I think you know."
