Albertans will have their say on 10 critical questions Monday, and Rebel News is live with special referendum coverage as the results come in. The polls close at 8 p.m. MT / 10 p.m. ET.

What’s on the ballot

Albertans vote tonight on ten referendum questions, announced by Premier Danielle Smith after her “Alberta Next” town halls.

  • Immigration and eligibility (Q1–5): More provincial control over immigration, limiting provincial programs to citizens and permanent residents, a 12-month residency wait and fees for non-permanent residents, and proof of citizenship to vote.
  • Constitutional (Q6–9): Provinces choosing their own superior court judges, abolishing the Senate, opting out of federal programs with full funding, and giving provincial law priority over federal law.
  • Q10: Should Alberta remain a province of Canada, or begin the legal process toward a binding referendum on separation?

Results for Questions 1–5 and 10 are non-binding. Ballots are counted by hand, so full results could take up to 48 hours.
