Build Steel Pipelines!

Ezra Levant and Lincoln Jay travelled to Sault Ste. Marie with our digital billboard truck and parked it outside the gates of Algoma Steel to hear directly from steelworkers facing devastating layoffs amid rising U.S. tariffs. Ezra spoke with workers on the ground about a concrete alternative to bailouts: using Canadian steel to build Canadian pipelines and create real, tariff-proof demand. The response was overwhelmingly positive, capturing rare, unfiltered reactions from workers themselves — and showing what real, ordinary Canadians think.

If you agree that hearing directly from these steelworkers was worthwhile, please chip in a donation to help cover the cost of getting Ezra, his videographer Lincoln Jay, and the digital billboard truck to Sault Ste. Marie — and for putting them up in a hotel there overnight. This kind of on-the-ground journalism isn’t free, and if you keep supporting us, we promise to keep on doing it!

BUILD STEEL PIPELINES

Ezra Levant just returned from Sault Ste. Marie, where he travelled with his videographer Lincoln Jay to hear directly from steelworkers at Algoma Steel after they announced nearly 1,000 layoffs. We drove our Rebel News digital billboard truck nine hours north of Toronto and parked it right outside the plant gates to get people talking about using Canadian steel to build Canadian pipelines. If you think it was important to hear directly from these steelworkers on the front lines, please help cover the cost of getting our team and billboard truck to Sault Ste. Marie so we can keep doing this kind of on-the-ground reporting.

The solution is staring Canada in the face — and the politicians still pretend not to see it.

Canada used to build things. We were a country of steelworkers, welders, roughnecks and engineers — people who made the world’s best pipelines, bridges and refineries. Now we’re run by a political class that subsidizes failure and blocks success. They pour half a billion dollars into Algoma Steel and act shocked — shocked! — when a thousand workers get laid off weeks later. They knew it was coming. They signed the cheques anyway.

Meanwhile, the one thing that would actually keep steelworkers employed doesn’t cost taxpayers a nickel: pipelines.

Real pipelines.

Steel pipelines.

The kind governments killed on purpose — Northern Gateway, Energy East, Keystone XL — all of them projects that would have created massive, long-term demand for Canadian-made steel. Instead, Ottawa fed those jobs into the shredder to please foreign activists and campus climate crusaders.

This isn’t an industrial crisis. It’s political malpractice. And it’s time to say so.

Canada’s steelworkers need real jobs, not more government subsidies that lead to layoffs. The fastest way to rebuild our industrial economy is to approve pipelines made with Canadian steel, creating long-term prosperity without costing taxpayers a dime. We call on Ottawa to stop blocking development and start building our future — Build Steel Pipelines.
